The Pinctada Radiometal Processing Module provides the user the possibility to produce highly purified radiometals from irradiated deposits on chemically inert backings (targets). The module has been particularly optimized for the production of 64Cu from irradiated 64Ni targets; however it is suitable for the separation of other radionuclides from the corresponding irradiated target matrix.
The module is fully automated and comprises the dissolution and separation unit, a control box with PLC and a notebook computer. The dissolution and separation unit should be installed in a hot cell in order to minimize radiation exposure to personnel.
